Newsletter signup

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect and store your email address and the page you signed up from. This data is stored securely in our database hosted on Supabase. We use your email solely to send you updates about dumb appliance picks and deals. You can unsubscribe at any time by contacting us at contact@bestdumbappliances.com.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-CN5VJCNL4P) to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects information such as which pages you visit, how long you spend on them, your approximate geographic location, device type, and browser. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device to distinguish unique users and sessions. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Affiliate link clicks

When you click a "Where to Buy" link, we track the click event through Google Analytics. The data we record includes the retailer name, product name, and approximate price — but no personally identifying information. Clicking a buy link will redirect you to the retailer’s website (such as Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, or Home Depot), where that retailer’s own privacy policy applies.

Recently viewed products

We store a list of products you’ve recently viewed using your browser’s local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage or site data.

Cookies we set

We do not set any first-party cookies. Google Analytics sets third-party cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish unique users and sessions. These cookies expire after 2 years of inactivity.

Retailer cookies

When you visit a retailer’s website through our affiliate links, that retailer may set cookies on your device to track your visit and attribute any purchases to our affiliate account. We have no control over these cookies. Please refer to the respective retailer’s privacy policy for details.

Retailer image loading

Product images on our site are loaded directly from retailer content delivery networks (such as images.homedepot.com, i5.walmartimages.com, m.media-amazon.com, and pisces.bbystatic.com). These requests may allow retailers to log your IP address and set cookies. We load these images to display accurate, up-to-date product photos.

We use the information we collect to: send newsletter emails to subscribers who opt in; understand which pages and products are most useful to visitors (via analytics); improve our product curation and site experience; and maintain the operational security of our site. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Newsletter subscriber emails are retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ default retention settings (14 months). Recently viewed product data in your browser’s local storage persists until you clear it.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: request access to the personal data we hold about you; request correction or deletion of your data; opt out of analytics tracking (via the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on or your browser’s Do Not Track setting); and unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time. Our site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
